The M.H. de Young Museum with those trees that always get hacked back every year, then grow thousands of sucker branches that have to be hacked again. San Francisco's City Hall is rife with them as well. What are these trees? Someone help me out here. Oh, and a palm tree.

i am also asking, what are those trees? for myself i call them the EVIL TREE , please if you get to know about them tell me.
They're all over my new neighborhood. I'll post photos of some of the most awful specimens. They really depress me--I wish people would pull them out of their yards and start over with trees that will never be topped in this way.
